How our small startup company, looking to make an impact, has used available resources to aid in a humanitarian crisis abroad.
Needed Support
In February 2022, global turmoil unfolded as Russia launched a military invasion towards neighboring country, Ukraine. Despite fierce resistance, tens of thousands of Ukrainians have lost their lives, and over 11 million have fled their homes or have been displaced by the fallout of the war. This humanitarian crisis has left Ukraine in dire need of medical support for their injured citizens, including those still being impacted by the COVID-19 virus.
How CorVent Medical is Helping
As a small company looking to make an impact, we have assembled our resources within ventilatory care to provide support to Ukraine in a time of crisis. Our company has donated over 1,100 life-saving resuscitation bags via the Ukrainian-American Crisis Response Committee and are sending 32 of our RESPOND ventilators with a 1-month reserve of disposable supplies via Nova Ukraine. According to the World Health Organization, “[medical] supply chains have been severely disrupted. Many distributers are not operational, some stockpiles are inaccessible…medicine supplies are running low, and hospitals are struggling to provide care to the sick and wounded,” (WHO is working day and night to keep medical supply chains open and preserve Ukraine’s health system, 2022). Sending these medical supplies is a small step towards providing effective respiratory care in appropriate medical situations that are arising during this time in Ukraine.
Richard S. Walsh, CorVent Medical’s CEO and President, stated, “It is an honor to support the Ukrainian war effort with our donation of life-saving RESPOND ventilators and Ambu bags. Our early mission was to save lives during the pandemic with ICU quality, easy-to-use and maintain, ventilators and our mission continues today.” By providing Ukraine with useful medical supplies, we know that CorVent Medical is positively impacting lives abroad; we are proud to aid Ukraine in their fight against Russia.
