The Material Handling Specialist is responsible for managing the material handling, packaging, and labeling processes for our products. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, organizational skills, and a passion for contributing to the growth of our company. The Material Handling Specialist will ensure that all products are handled, packaged, and labeled accurately while in compliance with industry regulations, such as FDA 21 CFR 820.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Material Handling:
- Receive, inspect, and store materials and components in a highly organized and efficient manner.
- Manage inventory levels, ensuring accurate records of stock and timely replenishment of supplies.
- Coordinate with the manufacturing team to ensure the timely availability of materials needed for production.
- Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks, following safety protocols.
Final Device Packaging & Labeling:
- Perform final packaging and labeling of medical devices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Inspect and verify that packaging and labeling meet all quality and compliance standards before shipment.
- Ensure accuracy in labeling, including Lot numbers, expiration dates, and other required information.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to prevent contamination and ensure product integrity.
Inventory Control & Documentation:
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of inventory levels, packaging, and labeling activities.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and maintain documentation required for quality control and regulatory compliance.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and safety in material handling, packaging, and labeling operations.
- Collaborate with the quality and production teams to resolve any issues related to packaging, labeling, or inventory control.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move materials throughout the facility for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher in a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in material handling, warehousing, inventory control, or a similar role, preferably in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with inventory management systems & barcode scanners and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- High level of ownership and accountability, with a proactive and driven approach to work.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Positive, flexible outlook, a roll-up your sleeves individual.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Certification in forklift operation or other material handling equipment is a plus.
